Bottled Water Cooler

When ever talking about alkaline water with my friends and family, at least half of the time, they mention that they purchase their alkaline water from bottling companies. I am astounded when they say this, as the price bottling companies charge for alkaline water is astronomical. Maybe your idea of astronomical and my idea of it are different. Below I point out a few examples, where you will probably agree with me.

First, let me mention that I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, where water is a premium. Whether you’re drinking it, swimming in it, or using it to water your lawn, there never seems to be enough. With that said, the examples I will be giving are based off a bottling water company in Las Vegas (their name will be with held). I will say, I do not know how companies who bottle alkaline water in other cities conduct their business. These examples are from one company in Las Vegas.

1. Did you know, to produce 5 Gallons of water from your tap, it only costs you ONE PENNY ($0.002 a gallon). Said Las Vegas company charges $9.00 for 5 Gallons of water and $7.00 for 3 Gallons of water. $9.00 for 5 Gallons of water, which you could produce yourself, in your own home, for ONE PENNY. Hmmmmm.
2. Said company charges $18.00 for 24 16.9 oz bottles. That equates to 405.6 oz, which is 3.17 Gallons or 12 Liters. So, let me get this straight, the company charges 2.5 times what they charge for 3 Gallons, just so you can have it in smaller bottles. Interesting.
3. If you you get the 5 Gallon or 3 Gallon, you’ll probably need a water cooler to hold those large jugs. So, not only does said company charge astronomical rates for the water they sell, but if you need to rent the water cooler from them, you’ll pay an additional $3.50 to $8.00 a month.

I have a water ionizing machine in my home, which I use for virtually everything. I can adjust the PH level of the water to suit my particular needs. I cook my food with it (8.5ph water), make my tea and coffee with it (the 9.5ph water), use it for MY drinking water (the 9.5ph water), use it for my dog’s drinking water (the 8.5ph water), and water my plants with it (the 5.5ph water). Why do I use alkaline water for all of these purposes? Because it only costs me ONE PENNY for 5 Gallons. Would you use the bottled alkaline water for all of these purposes? Not at $9.00 for 5 Gallons you wouldn’t.

Oh yeah, then there’s the whole environmental issue about plastic water bottles. But, we can save that for another post.
